Data Deletion

This page explains how to delete your Car Czar account and personal data, including if you signed up using Google, Facebook or Apple. It applies regardless of which sign-in method you used.
How to request deletion
Email privacy@carczar.app from the email address associated with your account and ask us to delete your account. We'll confirm your identity and process the request — you don't need to specify whether you signed up with Google, Facebook, Apple, or email and password.
What gets deleted
When we process your deletion request, we permanently delete:
- Your account and profile (name, email, ZIP code, locale, profile picture).
- Any information received from Google, Facebook or Apple at sign-in (provider account ID, name, email, profile picture, locale).
- All vehicles on your account, along with their service records, cost entries, fuel history and reminders.
- Every file you have attached — receipt and invoice photographs, and any documents such as a registration or insurance card. The files themselves are removed from storage, not just the entries pointing at them.
- Any messages you've sent us through the Contact Us form.
Deleting the account removes all of this together — you don't need to delete vehicles or files individually first. Attached files are removed from storage within about a minute of the account being deleted. For about seven days afterwards we keep a note that a file was deleted and when, holding no part of the file itself, so that we can confirm it happened if you ask.
A copy of deleted information can remain in our provider's routine encrypted backups for a limited period, until those are overwritten on their normal cycle.
We may retain minimal information where required by law, for fraud prevention, or to resolve disputes, but only for as long as legally necessary.
If you share your garage
If other people have joined your garage, we can’t delete your account straight away. Deleting it would take the vehicles, their whole service history and every attached file with them — for everyone in the garage, not just for you.
Before we can process the request you’ll need to do one of two things: hand the garage to one of its members, which moves the vehicles and their history across to them, or remove the members first, which leaves you as the sole owner. When you write to us we’ll tell you which applies and how many people would be affected, so you can decide.
If you are a member of someone else’s garage rather than its owner, none of this applies. Deleting your account removes you from that garage and deletes your own vehicles and files as described above, and leaves theirs untouched. Entries you recorded in it — a fill-up, an odometer reading — stay in that vehicle’s history, no longer linked to your name.
Timing
We aim to complete deletion requests within 30 days of confirming your identity.
Revoking Google, Facebook or Apple access separately
Deleting your Car Czar account removes the data we hold, but it doesn't revoke Car Czar's access on Google's, Facebook's or Apple's side. To also remove Car Czar from your connected apps, use:
- Google: myaccount.google.com/permissions
- Facebook: Facebook Settings → Apps and Websites
- Apple: account.apple.com → Sign-In and Security → Sign in with Apple
